2014 Virgin Valley Football Capsule

VIRGIN VALLEY

Head coach: Yori Ludvigson, first season

2013 record: 8-3 (3-2 Sunrise League, third)

Base offensive set: Spread, Pistol

Base defensive set: 5-3

Top offensive players: RB Junior Paongo (Sr.); OL Brandon Haun (Sr.)

Top defensive player: LB Brayden Lee (Sr.)

Key losses: QB Garrett Leavitt; WR DeVonte Milligan

Outlook: Virgin Valley had an impressive campaign a season ago under Chris Sawyers, who took over for division rival Sunrise Mountain.

The Bulldogs lost just three games a season ago, including two to Moapa Valley, last season’s No. 1 seed in the Sunrise. Now, under Ludvigson, the Bulldogs look to return to the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season.

Virgin Valley lost several key players to graduation, most notably on the offensive side. Quarterback Leavitt, running back Dee Bowler, and receiver Milligan all are gone after being selected first team all-state by the Division I-A coaches.

Paongo, Haun and Lee are the top returning players for Virgin Valley.

“They’ve come along way this summer, so I’m excited to see them get rolling,” Ludvigson said.
