2015 Beaver Dam Football Capsule

BEAVER DAM

League: Division IV Southern

Head coach: Rory Hurley, fifth season

2014 record: 0-7 (0-6 Southern, seventh)

Returning lettermen: 12

Base offensive set: Single wing

Base defensive set: 4-3-1

Top offensive players: RB Luiz Gonzalez (Sr.); QB Uriel Perez (Jr.); RB Memo Hermosillo

Top defensive players: LB Arturo Gonzalez (Jr.); DL Danny Rincon (Sr.); LB Manny Villareal (So.)

Key losses: OL/DL Eddy Castro; OL/DL Saulo Salas; OL Tanner Garlick; RB/LB Uriel Rosas; RB/LB Adan Lopez

Outlook: Beaver Dam lost all of its starting offensive line, but it did return some key players in the skill positions.

The Diamondbacks, who were winless last season, will be looking to flip the script when it faces Fredonia (Ariz.) on Aug. 30.

Perez is back at quarterback and will be anxious to break out after getting a year of experience under his belt. He will get help from Gonzalez, who led the team in scoring last season at running back.

"The team looks to improve on the defensive side, so the offense doesn't have to carry such a heavy load," Hurley said.
