FOOTHILL
League: Class 4A Southeast
Head coach: Marty Redmond, 13th season (75-55)
2016 record: 6-5 (3-2 Southeast League, fourth)
Returning starters: Six offense, four defense
Base offensive set: Spread
Base defensive set: Multiple
Top offensive players: QB Koy Riggin (So.); WR Braedan Wilson (Jr.); RB Isaac Oliva (Sr.), WR Jordan Blakely (Jr.)
Top defensive players: CB Titus Lowe (Sr.); NG Anthony McAllister (Sr.); S Jordan Blakely (Jr.); DL Xavier Walker (Sr.)
Outlook: Redmond will turn quarterback duties over to Riggin despite the return of last year’s starter, Jordan Wilson.
“He’s a really smart, really composed kid,” Redmond said of Riggin. “We’re looking for big things out of him.
Jordan Wilson passed for 1,206 yards and rushed for 437 yards as the team’s quarterback as a sophomore. He’ll move to receiver this season, though he will miss the opener with an ankle injury.
Redmond said he expects Jordan Wilson to play a key role on both sides once healthy.
Oliva rushed for 435 yards and five TDs last season, and should be the primary ball carrier.
“I just think we have some real talented players,” Redmond said. “They’ve just got to learn our system and learn our scheme and be able to execute it. Just get that game-time experience.”
