Cheyenne’s scoring spree continues against Western

It certainly wasn’t the way Western wanted to start the season.
The Warriors lost 27 yards on their first play and things never got better as Cheyenne rolled to a 52-0 win at home.
Cheyenne scored 30 points in the opening quarter and went on to surpass the 50-point mark for the second consecutive week. Cheyenne (2-0) scored all of its points in the first half.
“We are playing extremely well on offense right now,” said Cheyenne head coach Charles Anthony. “The offense is playing very well, but we know once league play starts things will get tougher.”
The defense wasn’t bad, either. The Desert Shields limited Western to minus-25 yards of offense and allowed the Warriors past midfield just once — on the final drive of the game.
Six players scored touchdowns for Cheyenne, which rushed for 330 yards.
Marcus Sullivan continued his fast start to the season with 123 yards on six carries and a two TDs. Ronnie Green, Terence Bryson, Andrew Calhoun and Kaeo Helekahi also had scoring runs. Quarterback Chris Spencer connected with Evan Street on a 23-yard pass play for the other score.
Cheyenne may have been able to add points late in the first half but kneeled down at the Western 22 with four minutes left.
“It would be nice to score 50 points each week,” Anthony said with a smile. “However, we know that’s not realistic. All we want to do is continue to play well each and every week and the points will take care of itself.”
Western ran 35 plays, and only 12 of them gained yards.
