Lewis, Desert Shields clinch I-A Sunset title

Cheyenne's Myloe Lewis ran for 244 yards and five touchdowns Friday to lift the Desert Shields (6-2, 4-0) past host Faith Lutheran (4-4, 2-2) 44-14 to clinch the I-A Sunset title.

Lewis scored on runs of 43, 7, 45, 7 and 75 yards for Cheyenne.

The Desert Shields forced four first-half turnovers to take a 20-0 halftime lead, starting with an average field position inside the Faith Lutheran 40-yard line.

Devin Tatum got Cheyenne on the board early, completing a 10-play, 78-yard drive with a 3-yard run.

Faith Luteran recovered an onside kick to open the second half and scored on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Jake Deaville to Sean Bischel. The Crusaders’ hope was short-lived, however, as Lewis scored on Cheyenne’s next three drives.

Anthony Pryatel-Farmer led Faith Lutheran with seven catches for 75 yards.
