Newton passes for four scores, leads Coronado over Eldorado

Coronado's Ryan Newton passed for 272 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 81 yards, leading the Cougars (2-0) to a 35-19 road win over Eldorado (0-3).

Newton connected with Cody Giordano for a 73-yard touchdown on the fourth play of the game. Devon Riley followed soon after with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Newton finished 19 of 27, including a late TD to Garrett-Anthony Rowe. Giordano had five catches for 102 yards.

For Eldorado, junior quarterback JaQuorrey Williams scored on a 70-yard scramble in the fourth quarter. He finished with 90 yards rushing and 100 passing, including a fourth-quarter touchdown to Brett VanOrden.

Drayton Green also scored for the Sundevils on a 1-yard run.
