NOTES: Gorman standout Lindsey ponders offers while getting an earful

Tyjon Lindsey's hearing is just fine. This is a noteworthy development considering the auditory beating he's received the past two months from Bishop Gorman teammate Tate Martell.

"He's in my ear. A lot," Lindsey said Tuesday. "It's just going to take time, that's the thing."

Lindsey, a wide receiver/defensive back for the Gaels, is one of the nation's most sought-after recruits in the class of 2017, with scholarship offers from schools across the country.

But unlike Martell, a quarterback who made an oral commitment to Texas A&M before the start of his junior year, the 5-foot-9-inch, 170-pound Lindsey is being much more deliberate in his approach to the recruiting process.

"I want to get the full, 100 percent on each school," Lindsey said. "I've been taking it very slowly. I haven't really been thinking about it because my season is still at hand. Right now I'm just focused on me and my team and my season."

Lindsey and Martell moved to Las Vegas from Poway, Calif., last summer and helped the Gaels capture the mythical national championship. Martell's parents have been Lindsey's guardians since 2013, and their bond has led to speculation they will attend college together.

Lindsey has scholarship offers from 11 schools, including Ohio State, Oregon, Southern California, Texas A&M and UCLA. He and Martell made an unofficial visit to College Station, Texas, last weekend for the Aggies' game against Alabama.

"I enjoyed it a lot," Lindsey said. "There's nothing like the facilities they have, and the way the players and coaches also treat you and greet you. That place is amazing. Just the atmosphere they had at the game, how loud it was and how interactive the crowd was getting."

Lindsey, a consensus four-star prospect, is ranked No. 20 overall by Rivals.com in the class of 2017 and No. 72 in ESPN's top 300. Lindsey said one of the primary factors in his college decision will be how he fits into each school's offense.

Lindsey, whose preference is to line up as a slot receiver in a spread offense, was a first-team all-state selection as a sophomore. He leads the Gaels with 22 receptions for 532 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

"Dynamic is just the best word," Gorman coach Kenny Sanchez said. "If you could put an athlete together based off of agility and speed, that's what you'd come up with. He's just a different dude."

Lindsey will have another chance to impress recruiters Friday when the Gaels (8-0) host Don Bosco Prep (N.J.). Bosco Prep's secondary features Maryland commit Tyrone Hill, and the Ironmen are allowing 12.3 points per game.

"Every game is just a good opportunity to get better," Lindsey said. "This game is going to be very tough because their defensive backs are much bigger than what we've been playing against."

COSTA EARNS RECOGNITION — Shadow Ridge senior Gabrielle Costa will be honored by the Las Vegas City Council during its meeting Wednesday morning.

Costa is the captain of the Mustangs' girls track and field team and cheerleading squad. She also is a member of the National Honor Society and is president of Shadow Ridge's DECA International Marketing and Business team.

COMPUTER DROPS GAELS — Bishop Gorman's football team fell to No. 2 in the USA Today Super 25 computer rankings as St. John Bosco (Calif.) overtook the Gaels for the top spot.

Gorman remained No. 1 in USA Today's Super 25 expert rankings and MaxPreps' Xcellent 25 poll.
