Top-ranked Mater Dei (California) lost last Friday, leaving the door open for the Gaels to assume the top spot in MaxPreps’ national high school football rankings.
The No. 2-ranked Gaels’ quest for the school’s fourth national title improved Friday night when top-ranked Mater Dei lost 28-0 to No. 9 St. John Bosco (California).
Bishop Gorman rolled Desert Pines and is expected to be No. 1 in the national high school football polls after the top-ranked team lost Friday night.

Faith Lutheran hosts Foothill and Palo Verde faces Legacy with first place in their 5A leagues on the line. Top teams are also facing off in two 4A leagues.
