RECRUITING: Gorman safety returns home with Husky commit
March 10, 2010 - 7:04 pm
Bishop Gorman junior safety Evan Zeger gave an oral commitment to Washington after paying the Huskies an unofficial recruiting visit last weekend, Gorman coach Tony Sanchez said.
Zeger also had scholarship offers from Colorado and Washington State, Sanchez said.
Sanchez said that Zeger has returned to Gorman to be closer to family after playing at Skyline (Wash.) as a junior in 2009. Coaches anticipate he will play defensive back and running back for the Gaels as a senior.
“I had an opportunity to go through (2009) spring ball with him, and he’s a heck of an athlete,” Sanchez said. “You definitely want to get the ball in his hands five or six times a night, running or catching it.”
Zeger had 33 tackles and four interceptions as a sophomore at Gorman.
As a junior at Skyline, Zeger had 55 tackles and four interceptions to help the Spartans finish 12-2 and win the Washington Class 4A state title.
