RECRUITING: Moapa Valley’s Hymas commits to Weber State
December 22, 2014 - 8:30 pm
Moapa Valley quarterback Zach Hymas made an oral commitment to Weber State, Pirates coach Brent Lewis said Monday.
Hymas’ commitment is nonbinding, and the first day he can sign a letter of intent is Feb. 4. College coaches cannot comment until that time.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 185-pound Hymas guided Moapa Valley (13-0) to the Division I-A state title and was named the Sunrise League offensive Most Valuable Player.
As a senior, Hymas completed 60.3 percent of his passes (129-for-214) for 2,159 yards and 26 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Hymas threw for 393 yards and three scores in Moapa Valley’s 42-36 come-from-behind victory over Desert Pines in the state final.
Hymas is the second local player to commit to the Football Championship Subdivision school, joining Las Vegas running back Elias Miller.
