RECRUITING: Northwestern, Oregon State top Proby’s list

Cheyenne senior linebacker Damien Proby said Monday he is still mulling over seven scholarship offers, but expects to orally commit before the Feb. 4 signing day.

Proby said Northwestern and Oregon State are his “main” offers. Other schools that have offered are San Diego State, Utah State, Washington State, Wyoming and UNLV.

Proby’s only visit so far was to Northwestern from Dec. 12 to 13.

“It went really well,” Proby said of the visit. "The school was nice, the coaches. It was a great experience and family environment they had over there.”

Proby said he could visit Oregon State, but nothing has been scheduled.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 210-pound Proby also played tight end for Cheyenne, helping the Desert Shields to a 10-2 season and a second-place finish in the Northwest League.
