RECRUITING: Silverado’s Hunt headed to UNLV

Silverado tight end Austin Hunt made an oral commitment to UNLV.

Hunt's commitment is nonbinding, and the first day he can sign a letter of intent is Feb. 5. UNLV's coaches cannot comment until that time.

As a senior, the 6-foot-6-inch, 225-pound Hunt hauled in a team-high 22 receptions for 366 yards and four touchdowns and was named first-team All-Northeast League.  Hunt was also drawing interest from Northern Arizona and Weber State, but the Rebels were the only program to offer a scholarship.

Hunt is the fourth local player to commit to UNLV, joining Desert Pines wide receiver Tim Hough, Palo Verde defensive lineman Michael Hughes Jr., and Green Valley place-kicker Conor Perkins.
