ROUNDUP: Gorman blanks Archbishop Riordan

Bishop Gorman limited Archbishop Riordan (Calif.) to 125 yards of offense on Saturday, beating the Crusaders 13-0 in San Francisco.

The defending Class 4A state champs recorded their second consecutive shutout.

The Gaels got on the board in the first quarter with a safety. They added a 32-yard field goal by Colin Ditsworth with 11:55 to go in the half. Chase Cresto hit Joe Huber with a 14-yard TD pass with 4:26 to go in the half, and neither team would score in the second half.

Raphel Finley recorded 14 tackles to lead the defense. Defensive ends Justin Chaisson and Alex Turner combined for 16 tackles, including 4½ for loss.

Reed 34, Canyon Springs 14 — At Sparks, Brandon Mondragon threw four first-half touchdown passes to lead the Raiders over the Pioneers.

Canyon Springs cut the lead to 14-7 on a 2-yard TD run by Curtis Davis with 47 seconds to go in the first quarter, but Mondragon threw two more TD passes to extend the lead to 28-7 at the half.

Jamal Martin hit DeShaun Stewart with a 50-yard TD pass in the third quarter for the Pioneers.

Army and Navy Academy (Calif.) 31, Mountain View 8 — At Carlsbad, Calif., Army and Navy returned a fumble for a TD and had a pair of interceptions returned for scores in the first half on the way to the win.

Alex Watson scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter for Mountain View, which trailed 28-0 at the half.

Abundant Life (Utah) 18, Calvary Chapel 0 — At Kanab, Utah, Abundant Life jumped out to an 18-0 halftime lead and downed the Lions.
