Sperry, Pearson lift Faith Lutheran

David Sperry tossed two touchdown passes to Don Pearson on Saturday as Faith Lutheran opened its season with a 19-12 win at Campbell Hall (Calif.).

Sperry and Pearson combined on a 33-yard touchdown for the game’s first score. Sperry’s 15-yard pass to Pearson in the second quarter gave the Crusaders a 19-6 lead.

John Cartier had a 56-yard touchdown run for Faith in the first quarter.

The Crusaders made big plays on defense despite allowing Campbell Hall to rack up 355 yards. Faith recovered two fumbles, had an interception and blocked a punt.

Sperry was 8 of 18 for 115 yards with Pearson hauling in five passes for 91 yards. The Crusaders managed only 240 yards of offense, including just 93 yards on the ground — 56 of those on Cartier’s run.
