Steel, Koopman lead ground game as Eagles top Cowboys

Boulder City's Xavier Steel rushed for 178 yards, including an 11-yard TD, and D.J. Koopman supplied 141 yards on the ground to power the Eagles (8-1, 4-1 I-A Sunrise) to a 47-27 home win over Chaparral (4-5, 1-4) on Friday.
Boulder City led 32-13 at halftime, and Joe Miller’s 45-yard TD pass to Michael Kelso helped the Eagles hold off Chaparral’s second-half push. Kelso caught two passes for 67 yards and J.D. Owens had two first-half TD runs.
Chaparral’s Antonio Thomas rushed for 85 yards and a TD on 18 carries. Jason Jonshon was 8 of 10 passing for 160 yards and ran for 79 yards and two TDs.
