Sunrise Mountain holds on for first win

Jamilo Whitten caught two TD passes from Damon Heard, and Wanya Calahan rushed for 189 yards and a score Friday to lead Sunrise Mountain’s football team to a 21-20 win at Rancho.
Calahan busted loose for 70 yards on the first play of the third quarter to put Sunrise Mountain (1-6) up 21-6.
The Rams (0-7) rallied late, paced by fourth-quarter touchdown runs of 10 yards by Nathan Guido and 55 yards by Robert Howard.
Heard had two late interceptions on defense to help keep the Rams winless.
Howard finished with 150 yards on 27 carries, and Guido had 68 yards on 10 tries for Rancho.
