Wilson’s big night sends Mustangs past Diamondbacks

Dominick Wilson rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns Friday to help Shadow Ridge’s football team to a 25-14 win over visiting Desert Oasis.

Wilson rushed for 102 yards in the first half, scoring both of the Mustangs’ touchdowns in the first quarter.

In the second half, Wilson put up another 133 yards and two more touchdown runs. The latter was a 6-yard run that capped a 90-yard drive that melted 4:36 off the clock late in the fourth quarter. On that drive, Wilson helped with big runs of 19 and 30 yard, and Elijah Quintoa completed a 32-yard pass to Kye Runnels.

Shadow Ridge (1-2) trailed 14-12 at the half but shut down Desert Oasis in the second half. After gaining 152 yards in the first half, the Diamondbacks (0-3) were held to just 73 yards in the second and were forced into punts on three of their four drives.

Qwade Huff led Desert Oasis with 94 yards on 14 carries, adding a 1-yard run late in the second quarter that completed a 12-play drive to put the Diamondbacks up at halftime.
