BOYS GOLF: Alvarez helps Coronado take Southeast meet

Michael Alvarez shot 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday to lead Coronado’s boys golf team to victory in a Southeast League meet at Anthem.

Bradley Keyer added a 79, and Grant McKay and Michael Kirby each shot 82 for the Cougars, who shot 398 as a team. Foothill was second at 423, and Basic was third at 452.

Foothill’s Andrew Chu (75) and Hayden Munns (77) finished second and third, respectively.

Bulldogs top Diamondbacks

At Paiute, Centennial’s Joshua James shot a 4-over 40 to take medalist honors and help the Bulldogs to a 226-236 victory over Desert Oasis.

Blake Whittlesy led the Diamondbacks with a 41, and teammate Matthew Bernard shot 42.
