DIVISION III GOLF: Lake Mead’s Brooks tied for first after opening round

Lake Mead senior Quayd Brooks carded a 1-under-par 71 at Genoa Lakes in Genoa on Tuesday to earn a share of first place after the opening round of the Division III boys state golf tournament.

Brooks and White Pine’s Nick Marich are two strokes ahead of third-place Ty Pickel of White Pine. Calvary Chapel’s Anthony Milici is fourth after shooting 78.

White Pine leads the team competition with a score of 409. Incline is second at 441, followed by Battle Mountain (443), Whittell (450), The Meadows (458) and Needles (474).

The final round will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Edgewood-Tahoe in Stateline.
