Foothill’s Noah MacFawn wins Pahrump Valley Invitational title in playoff

Foothill’s Noah MacFawn birdied a playoff hole Friday to win the individual title at the Pahrump Valley Invitational boys golf tournament at Mountain Falls.

MacFawn and Arbor View’s Hazen Newman each shot a 36-hole total of 1-over-par 143 and went to a one-hole playoff to decide the champion.

MacFawn carded a final-round 3-under 69 on Friday after beginning the round four strokes behind first-round leader Rajvir Bedi of Bellarmine (California).

Newman, who teed off 90 minutes after MacFawn, birdied the 15th hole and parred each of the final three holes to finish with a 70 and earn a share of the top spot.

Bellarmine’s Will Meinhardt was the only other golfer to break par Friday, firing a 71 to take third place with a 36-hole total of 145.

Bishop Gorman’s Mitchell Abbott was fourth at 146, and Arbor View’s Kameron Kelsey placed fifth with a 148 total.

Bellarmine placed its all four of its scoring golfers in the top 12 to win the team title with a 595 total.

Coronado (604) was second, and Arbor View (614) took third.
