GOLF: Bauman buoys Palo Verde boys in Northwest League win

Brandon Bauman carded a 1-over-par 73 at Spanish Trail on Thursday to lead Palo Verde’s boys golf team to a Northwest League match victory.

The Panthers had a team score of 395. Arbor View was second at 400, followed by Shadow Ridge at 434.

Shadow Ridge’s Ben Davis was the medalist with a 71, and teammate Tanner Johnson shot 75.

The Aggies got a 73 from Nick Bible and a 76 from Van Thomas.

Cougars edge Falcons for Southeast win
At Black Mountain, Matt Welch fired a 2-under 70 to lead Coronado to a narrow victory in a Southeast League match.

The Cougars finished at 388, three shots ahead of second-place Foothill. Basic was third at 476.

Foothill’s Taylor Montgomery finished second at 71, and teammate Andrew Chu was third at 73.

Coronado’s Grant McKay (75) and Michael Kirby (79) rounded out the top five.

Frisbee, Gaels win Southwest match
At Bear’s Best, Frank Frisbee shot 1-over 73 to lead Bishop Gorman to victory in a Southwest League match.

The Gaels shot 388 as a team, to easily top Desert Oasis (472), Centennial (475) and Bonanza (520).

Gorman’s Dylan Garrett shot 76, Christian James 77 and Anthony Lalli 79 as the Gaels took four of the top five individual spots.

Bonanza’s Alex Jordan was second individually with a 75.

Eagles win Sunrise League match
At Wildhorse, Luke Logan carded a 71 to take medalist honors and help Boulder City to a Sunrise League victory.

Boulder City’s Christian Hudleson shot 72 to finish second, and T.J. Hatfield carded a 74 to place third for the Eagles, who shot 381 as a team.

Needles was second at 436.

Virgin Valley’s Kadan Atkin shot 76, and Moapa Valley’s Jacob Causey shot a 78 to round out the top five.
