GOLF: Chu helps Foothill boys edge Cougars

Andrew Chu fired a 2-under-par 70 on Thursday at Tuscany to lead Foothill’s boys golf team to a two-stroke victory over Coronado in a Southeast League match.
Taylor Montgomery added a 72 for the Falcons, who shot 375 as a team to edge the Cougars (377).
Basic was third at 473, and Liberty fourth at 489.
Coronado’s Matt Welch shot 69 to take medalist honors. Bradley Keyer and Michael Alvarez each carded a 74 for the Cougars to round out the top five.
Eagles roll to Sunrise win
At Las Vegas National, Boulder City took the top four spots on the way to a victory in a Division I-A Sunrise League golf match.
Luke Logan shot par 71 to lead the Eagles, who finished at 389.
Moapa Valley was second at 476, and no other team broke 500.
Christian Hudleson and Tyler Barton each carded 75s for Boulder City, and teammate T.J. Hatfield shot 80.
Moapa Valley’s Jacob Causey rounded out the top five with an 84.
Gorman wins Southwest match
At Paiute, Bishop Gorman had five golfers shoot in the 70s on the way to victory in a Southwest League match.
Frank Frisbee shot 2-over 74 to lead the Gaels, who shot 380 as a team. Centennial was second at 423, and Desert Oasis shot 450.
Bonanza’s Alex Jordan and Desert Oasis’ Niko Gonnella each shot 70 to share medalist honors.
Cimarron-Memorial’s Brandon Smith shot 72 to place third, and teammate Danny Drake shot 74 to tie Frisbee for fourth.
Gorman’s Christian James (75), Dylan Garrett (75), Anthony Lalli (78) and Ben Schlichting (78) also had strong rounds.
