GOLF: Meeks, Panthers earn Southwest League win

Cameron Meeks shot a 4-under-par 68 at Spanish Trail on Thursday to help Palo Verde’s boys golf team to victory in a Southwest League match.

Palo Verde, which also got a 71 from Jett Isoda, shot even-par 360 as a team. Bishop Gorman was second at 377, followed by Shadow Ridge at 422.

Shadow Ridge’s Tanner Johnson shot 69.

Bishop Gorman’s Mitchell Abbott shot 70.

Coronado defeats Crusaders

At Anthem, Jalen Hodges shot an even-par 36, and Coronado swept the top five spots en route to a 185-207 win over Faith Lutheran.

Grant McKay, Dylan Fritz and Joey Dotta each added a 37 for the Cougars, and teammate Ethan Bozner shot 38.

Mitch Conley led Faith Lutheran with a 39.
