Needles captures 2A Southern League title

Needles placed two golfers in the top 10 and four in the top 12 to win the Class 2A Southern League boys golf tournament at Rivers Edge Golf Course in Needles, Calif., on Thursday.

The Mustangs shot 446 as a team. Round Mountain (504) and West Wendover (508) finished second and third to claim the other state qualifying spots.

West Wendover’s Will Doudy was the individual champion with a 2-over-par 73. Lake Mead’s Joey Velasquez was second at 77, West Wendover’s Jerrick Price and Round Mountain’s Clint Wilson and Tonopah’s Denver Otteson tied for third at 82.
