Roundup: Mitchell Abbott, Aarjav Patel lead Gorman boys to Southwest victory

Mitchell Abbott and Aarjav Patel each shot 1-under-par 71 at Rhodes Ranch on Thursday to share medalist honors and lead the Bishop Gorman boys golf team to victory in a Southwest League match.

Joseph Williams added a 72 for the Gaels, who finished with a team score of 292. Sierra Vista was second at 335, followed by Desert Oasis at 356.

Rashon Williams led the Mountain Lions and was fourth overall with a 77. Gorman’s Ryan Rasmussen, Clark’s Jody Paulsen and Desert Oasis’ Devin Heiman all shot 78.

Coronado wins Southeast League match

At Desert Willow, Brett Sodetz shot 1-over 61 to earn medalist honors and lead Coronado to victory in a Southeast League match.

Benjamin Sawaia added a 63, and Joey Dotta and J.J. Kulesza each shot 64 for the Cougars, who had a team total of 252. Foothill was second at 264, followed by Basic at 309 and Liberty at 314.

Foothill’s Brandon Maroushek also shot 64, and teammate Noah MacFawn added a 65.
