Roundup: Mitchell Abbott shoots 5-under to lead Gorman to victory

Mitchell Abbott carded a 5-under-par 67, including a rare double eagle on the par-5 eighth hole, Wednesday at Siena to earn medalist honors and lead Bishop Gorman’s boys golf team to victory in a Southwest League match.

Abbott holed out on his second shot on the 513-yard eighth hole. He was 5-under through 15 holes, but had just his second bogey of the day on the 17th hole before finishing with a birdie on the 18th.

Spring Valley’s Adonis LeBlue finished second with a 72. Gorman’s Joseph Williams and Aarjav Patel tied for third at 77.

The Gaels had a team score of 300. Sierra Vista was second at 330, four strokes better than Desert Oasis.

Sierra Vista’s Rashon Williams had a hole-in-one on the par-3, 166-yard 14th hole.

Eagles win Sunrise League match

At Coyote Springs, Blake Schaper shot 3-over 75 to earn medalist honors and lead Boulder City to victory in a Sunrise League match.

Jackson Wright added an 80, and Dustin Landerman shot 86 for the Eagles, who finished with a team score of 332.

Virgin Valley finished second at 418, and Sky Pointe was third at 441.

Virgin Valley’s Jeron Dalton was fourth individually with an 87.
