2A STATE: Wolverines’ Thomas second after first day

Henderson International freshman Sarah Thomas is in second place at the midway point of the Class 2A state girls golf tournament at Genoa Lakes in Genoa.
Thomas carded a 15-over-par 87 on Monday. Incline senior Katelyn Wright leads Thomas by 15 strokes heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Incline’s Gwen Paul is third with a 19-over-par 91.
The Highlanders are running away with the team competition after posting a team score of 381. Battle Mountain is second at 463, followed by Wells at 466.
White Pine is fifth in the seven-team field at 517 and was led by senior Emily Laity, who is tied for eighth at 105.
West Wendover is seventh at 573 and was led by a Caitlin Reilly’s 112. Reilly is in a three-way tie for 13th place.
