3A REGIONALS: Mead leads way as Eagles run and hide from field

Indiana Mead took medalist honors with a 13-over-par 85, and Boulder City’s girls grabbed the top five spots on the leaderboard Monday en route to the title in the Class 3A Southern League tournament Monday at Boulder City Municipal.
The Eagles had a team score of 358. Virgin Valley was second at 431, followed by Moapa Valley at 552.
Randi Lewis carded an 88 for the Eagles, who added a 92 from Jordyn Syler and a 93 each from Bree Morang and Lizz Ropp.
The Eagles were the lone Southern team to qualify for the state tournament, Oct. 18-19 at Ruby Ridge in Elko.
Virgin Valley had three individual qualifiers — Shaina Snyder (99), Tara Hansen (102) and Treashell Nicol (103).
Moapa Valley’s Haley Causey (111) and Haley Neilson (122) also qualified for the state meet.
