3A Southern Region: Boulder City’s Lani Potter repeats as champ

Boulder City’s Lani Potter shot 1-over-par 73 at Las Vegas Municipal on Tuesday to pull away for her second consecutive Class 3A Southern Region title.

Potter finished with a two-day score of 147, 12 shots ahead of Tech’s Cassidy Phelan. Pahrump Valley’s Breanne Nygaard was third at 160.

Phelan was the only golfer other than Potter to shoot in the 70s after carding a 77 on Tuesday.

Boulder City also captured its second consecutive team title. The Eagles shot 346 on Tuesday to finish at 703. Tech was second at 743, with Pahrump third at 766.

All three teams advance to next week’s state tournament at Mountain Falls in Pahrump.
