3A Southern Region: Western’s Carolyn Lemon wins region title, Pahrump takes team crown

Western’s Carolyn Lemon birdied two of her final seven holes Wednesday and held on to win the Class 3A Southern Region tournament at CasaBlanca Golf Club in Mesquite.

Lemon shot a 1-under-par 71 on Wednesday to finish with a 36-hole total of 7-over 151.

Pahrump Valley’s Breanne Nygaard finished second at 153 after carding a 72 in the second round.

Nygaard’s effort helped the Trojans to the team title with a two-round total of 729. Boulder City, the two-time defending region champion, finished three strokes behind.

Ryann Reese led the Eagles and finished third overall with a 36-hole total of 168.

The entire field — both teams and all seven individuals — qualified for the state tournament, which begins Monday in Truckee, California.
