Boulder City girls take opening-round lead in 3A state golf tournament

Boulder City is halfway to its goal of winning the Class 3A state girls golf championship.

The Eagles shot an opening round 390 on Monday at Spring Creek Golf Course to take a six-stroke lead over Virgin Valley in the 36-hole tournament. Lowry is third at 405.

Margot Potter led the Eagles with an opening-round 94. Potter is in fourth place individually.

Indiana Mead carded a 96, and Ashley Vince and Brianna Morang each shot a 100 for Boulder City.

Virgin Valley’s Felisha Baeza and Faith Lutheran’s Ashley Lacher shared the lead after one round at 14-over-par 85. Lowry’s Chloe McClintock is third at 87.

Also for Virgin Valley, Hannah Bulloch carded a 95, and Taylor Wier shot 103.

The second round is scheduled for Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
