Pahrump Valley dominates Sunset League match

Pahrump Valley’s girls golf team placed five golfers in the top six spots Wednesday, including Breanne Nygaard shooting a 6-over-par 78 and winning medalist honors, to win a Sunset League match at Mountain Falls.

Carolyn Lemon shot an 89 for Western to finish in second place.

Pahrump Valley’s Makalea Petrie placed third by carding a 99, followed by teammates Desirae Hembree (103), Jessica Pearson (107) and McKayla Bartley (114).

The Trojans shot 387 as a team to win the meet. Mojave was second with 534, with Desert Pines just behind at 540.

Centennial wins dual meet

At Paiute, McKenzi Hall shot 5-under-par 31 to win medalist honors and lead Centennial to a 152-250 victory over Cimarron-Memorial.

The Bulldogs had four of the top five finishers with Hailey Stevenson taking second place with a 36. Cimarron’s Katelyn Smith shot 40 for third.
