BOYS SOCCER: Hernandez saves victory as Jaguars top Miners

Geo Hernandez stopped a penalty kick with two minutes left in the match Tuesday to help host Desert Pines' boys soccer team hold off fifth-ranked Sunrise Mountain, 2-1.

Marco Vivero and Oswaldo Medina each scored a goal to give the Jaguars a 2-0 lead.

Luis Olandez converted a penalty kick with seven minutes left to cut the margin to 2-1, and Hernandez stopped the Miners' second penalty kick of the match five minutes later.

Legacy 1, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Gorman, Mario Adams' second-half goal, off an assist from Kevin Calderon, led the Longhorns past the Gaels.

Juan Orpineda made seven saves to earn the shutout for Legacy.

Eldorado 1, Coronado 0 — At Eldorado, Cesar Tapia scored in the fourth minute off an assist from Eddie Mercado as the Sundevils edged the Cougars.

Isaac Hernandez made 11 saves to record the shutout for Eldorado.

Rancho 2, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Kevin Rodriguez-Clavel scored two goals and the Rams held on to edge the Falcons.

Michael Carnahan scored for Foothill.

Palo Verde 3, Durango 3 — At Durango, Anthony Sotelo scored on an assist from Giovanni Rodriguez late in the second half to help the Trailblazers earn a tie with the Panthers.

Marcos Delangel-Parra and Luis Cabrera each scored a goal for Durango.

Anthony Kaskie scored twice, and Jayden Hoogland added a goal for Palo Verde, which held leads of 2-0 and 3-1.

Chaparral 5, Tech 2 — At Heritage Park, Jose Morales scored three goals, and Leo Gutierrez had a goal and an assist, as the Cowboys defeated the Roadrunners.

Omar Miranda also scored, and Miguel Mendoza supplied two assists for Chaparral.

Leonardo Carrillo and Asish Pandey each had a goal for Tech.

Virgin Valley 5, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Moises Medina scored three goals to lead the Bulldogs to victory over the Pirates.

Rafael DeSantiago and Pedro Osuna-Gomez also scored for Virgin Valley, which got two assists from Ulises Flores.

Hayden Johnson was in goal for the shutout.

Del Sol 8, Boulder City 1 — At Boulder City, Erik Serrano had two goals and an assist to help the Dragons rout the Eagles.

Johan Rodriguez had a goal and two assists, and Ruben Ortiz, Diego Nieves and Sergio Calderon each supplied a goal and an assist for Del Sol, which also got goals from Daniel Barajas and Diego Flores-Diaz.

Green Valley 13, Basic 0 — At Basic, Ricardo Nunez had three goals and four assists as the Gators routed the Wolves.

Antonio Trama added two goals and an assist, and Alex Gibson had two goals for Green Valley. Noah Whitehead, Connor Malone, Javier Flores and Alessandro Sanchez each had a goal and an assist, and Estevan Uribe and Kevin Yanez also scored for the Gators.

Sal Hicks recorded the shutout.
