BOYS SOCCER: Martinez, Mojave hold off Virgin Valley

Christian Martinez had two goals and an assist Tuesday as Mojave’s boys soccer team jumped out to a 5-2 lead and held on for a 5-4 win over host Virgin Valley.

Antonio Perez, Bryan Alvarez, and Lynno Muro each added a goal for the Rattlers.

Gabe Medina supplied two goals to lead the Bulldogs, who got two assists from Moises Medina. Juan Ulloa and Rafael DeSantiago also scored for Virgin Valley.

Tech 5, Canyon Springs 1 — At Tech, Derian Salcedo scored two goals, and Salvador Garcia supplied a goal and two assists as the Roadrunners cruised past the Pioneers.

Francisco Garcia and Julio Del Real each had a goal, and Brandon Vargas had two assists for Tech.

Jose Gonzalez scored for Canyon Springs.

Spring Valley 3, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Jonathan Covarrubias scored twice to lead the Grizzlies by the Bengals.

Tyson Perkins added a goal and an assist for Spring Valley.

Lucio Medina scored Bonanza’s goal.

Liberty 1, Silverado 0 — At Liberty, Parker Randall’s first-half goal lifted the Patriots over the Skyhawks.

Joey Schibetta made four saves to earn the shutout for Liberty.

Desert Oasis 3, Sierra Vista 2 — At Sierra Vista, Herson Ramirez had a goal and two assists as the Diamondbacks held off the Mountain Lions.

Diego Hidalgo and Gilbert Castro also scored for Desert Oasis.

Dominic Cardenas and Luis Vazquez scored for Sierra Vista, which got two assists from Giovanni Amaya.

Coronado 3, Valley 2 — At Coronado, Justin Lyons scored two goals to help the Cougars defeat the Vikings.

Jalen Randoph added a goal for Coronado.

Eric Sanchez scored twice for Valley.

Chaparral 4, Basic 0 — At Basic, Ivan Jaquez scored twice as the Cowboys blanked the Wolves.

Cesar Perez and Manny Sanchez each added a goal for Chaparral.

Gerardo Skewes and Juan Romero each made two saves and combined on the shutout for the Cowboys.

Cimarron-Memorial 6, Durango 1 — At Durango, Niko DeLaTorre scored twice, and Gustavo Ortega added a goal and three assists to power the Spartans by the Trailblazers.

Dresden Quackenbush, Garrick Quackenbush and Scotty Robles also scored for Cimarron.

Paris Estrada netted Durango’s goal.

Moapa Valley 6, Adelson School 1 — At Adelson, Arturo Gutierrez had three goals and an assist, and Enrique Frias added a goal and an assist to help the Pirates rout the Lions.

Riley Brown and Kyle Payne also scored for Moapa Valley, which got two assists from Arnulfo Frias.
