BOYS SOCCER: Mendez’s save preserves Desert Pines’ win over Gorman

Desert Pines goalkeeper Gregory Mendez saved a penalty kick late in the game to preserve the lead and the Jaguars topped host Bishop Gorman 2-1 on Monday.

Emmanual Calo converted a free kick to put Desert Pines up 2-1.

Erick Santillan scored the other goal for Desert Pines, assisted by Eduardo Velazquez.

Desert Oasis 1, Adelson School 1 — At Adelson School, the teams played to a 1-1 tie.

Both goals were scored in the first half.
