BOYS SOCCER: Second-half spurt sends Miners past Dragons

Victor Vargas and Luis Olandez scored two minutes apart in the second half Tuesday to lead Sunrise Mountain’s boys soccer team to a 2-0 win at Del Sol.

Vargas opened the scoring three minutes into the second half when he headed in Enrique Pedraza’s cross. Olandez scored two minutes later for the Miners, who had 27 shots and also hit the post six times.

Carlos Cruz made three saves to record the shutout.

Las Vegas 2, Green Valley 1 — At Green Valley, Marco Carrillo and Steven Moreno each scored as the Wildcats edged the Gators.

Connor Malone scored for Green Valley.

Tech 3, Virgin Valley 1 — At Heritage Park, Francisco Garcia had a goal and two assists as the Roadrunners used three second-half goals to down the Bulldogs.

Fabian Vera and Adolofo Guzman also scored for Tech.

Moises Medina scored for Virgin Valley.

Faith Lutheran 4, Adelson School 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Brock Hagee scored two goals to help the Crusaders cruise past the Lions.

Harut Khachoyan and Dylan Rath also scored for Faith Lutheran, and teammate Carter Bishop made one save to earn the shutout.

Desert Pines 8, Boulder City 0 — At Desert Pines, Jimmy Rodriguez tallied two goals and two assists to lead the Jaguars by the Eagles.

Marco Vivero had a goal and two assists, and Pablo Martinez and Augustin Hernandez each had a goal and an assist. Angel Vasquez, Jordy Cortez and Oswaldo Medina also scored for Desert Pines.

Daniel Mendoza made three saves to earn the shutout.

Chaparral 9, Moapa Valley 0 — At Chaparral, Jose Morales had three goals and two assists as the Cowboys routed the Pirates.

Omar Miranda added two goals and two assists, and Jonas Revers had a goal and an assist for Chaparral, which also got a goal each from Ivan Jaquez, Lester Izquierdo and Carlos Hernandez.

Gerardo Skewes was in goal for the shutout.
