BOYS SOCCER: Sunrise Mountain tops Western, takes over first place

Julian Herrera and Jose Arreola scored in the first half Tuesday, and Sunrise Mountain’s boys soccer team held on for a 2-1 road win over Western to take over sole possession of first place in the Sunset League.
Musio Jimenez-Vazquez assisted on Herrera’s goal for Sunrise Mountain, which led 2-0 at halftime.
Both teams entered the match undefeated in league play.
Juan Arrendondo-Alvarez scored with 10 minutes remaining for Western.
Cimarron-Memorial 2, Shadow Ridge 2 — At Shadow Ridge, Jordan Tschogl scored with three minutes to play to give the host Mustangs a tie with the Spartans.
Edoardo Turrini scored the other goal for Shadow Ridge, which trailed 2-1 at the half.
Arturo Bahena and Jimi Villasenor scored for Cimarron, and teammate Dresden Quackenbush had two assists.
Las Vegas 1, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Fernando Gomez scored a first-half goal, and the Wildcats held on to top the Rams.
Naithan Gomez assisted on the goal, and Chris Sosa recorded the shutout.
Valley 2, Canyon Springs 2 — At Valley, the Vikings got second-half goals from Joseph Cruz and Carlos Mendez to earn a tie with the Pioneers.
Eduardo Quintero-Rodriguez and Edgar Donate each scored a goal for Canyon Springs.
Legacy 4, Arbor View 3 — At Arbor View, Justin McCabe scored twice as the Longhorns nipped the Aggies.
Juan Cervantes and Sebastian Romero each added a goal, and Oscar Gonzalez had four assists for Legacy.
Nicklaus Dongmann had two goals and an assist to lead Arbor View. Daniel Corona scored the other goal for the Aggies.
Desert Pines 4, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Desert Pines, the Jaguars jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and rolled past the Trojans.
Kevin Sanchez, Edgar Sierra, Muya Ali and Erick Santillan each had a goal for Desert Pines.
Tylor Quinteros scored for Pahrump.
Mojave 4, Cheyenne 1 — At Mojave, Adrian Perez had two goals and an assist to lead the Rattlers by the Desert Shields.
Anibal Ponce added a goal and two assists, and Gabriel Sanchez-Gonzalez and Jesus Ubario each scored one goal for Mojave.
Carlos Macias had Cheyenne’s goal.
Palo Verde 6, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Henry Robledo-Matadamas had two goals and two assists, and Issac Knecht scored twice as the Panthers rolled past the Crusaders.
Presten Manthey supplied a goal and three assists, and Nick Frost added a goal for Palo Verde, which led 3-0 at halftime.
Levi Lord got the shutout.
