BOYS SOCCER: Vargas’ late penalty kick lifts Tech by Virgin Valley

Julio Vargas scored on a penalty kick in the final five minutes Tuesday to lift Tech’s boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over Virgin Valley at McCarran Park.

Vargas finished with two goals, and Derian Salcido scored once for the Roadrunners.

Gabe Medina had a goal and an assist for Virgin Valley, and Moises Medina scored once for the Bulldogs.

Sunrise Mountain 2, Chaparral 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Carlos Herrera’s second-half goal lifted the Miners by the Cowboys.

Jose Paz also scored for Sunrise Mountain.

Jose Morales had a goal for Chaparral.

Moapa Valley 2, Boulder City 1 — At Overton, Arturo Gutierrez scored two goals, including the match-winner with less than a minute to go, as the Pirates nipped the Eagles.

Nick Walker had Boulder City’s goal.

Clark 1, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Faith Lutheran, Alexis Lopez’s second-half goal allowed the Chargers to tie the Crusaders.

Sean Kay scored the first-half goal for Faith Lutheran.

Cimarron-Memorial 4, Legacy 1 — At Cimarron, Nico DeLaTorre and Gustavo Ortiz each scored twice to lead the Spartans by the Longhorns.

Scotty Robles had three assists for Cimarron.

Jaime Ibarra netted Legacy’s goal.

Bishop Gorman 6, Centennial 3 — At Gorman, Tristan Blackmon racked up four goals and an assist, and Sean Keith added two goals and two assists as the Gaels downed the Bulldogs.

Eric Sanchez had a goal and an assist, and Mason Panos and Chaisson Bowen also scored for Centennial.

Desert Oasis 6, Bonanza 1 — At Desert Oasis, Eric Biorato had two goals and an assist, and Antonio Arias scored twice to lead the Diamondbacks by the Bengals.

Mi Hou added a goal and an assist, and Herson Ramirez also scored for Desert Oasis.

Luca Baiao scored for Bonanza.

Cheyenne 2, Adelson School 1 — At Cheyenne, Victor Sosa and Brandon Bonnetts each scored early in the second half, and the Desert Shields hung on to edge the Lions.

Mojave 9, The Meadows 1 — At The Meadows, Antonio Perez and Cristopher Pulido each scored twice as the Rattlers routed the Mustangs.

Christian Martinez added a goal and two assists, and Eduardo Luna and Noe Garcia each had a goal and an assist for Mojave, which also got goals from Saul Godoy and Guillermo Ramirez.

Thomas Isaacs scored for The Meadows.

Western 8, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Western, Bruno Aleman scored twice, and Angel Ibanez added a goal and an assist as the Warriors rolled by the Trojans.

Walter Santamaria, Fernando Caro, Nathaniel Reyes, Martin Ramirez and Edwin Morales also scored for Western, which got two assists from Martin Vasquez.

Manuel Guillermo made three saves on his way to a shutout.
