ROUNDUP: Magana’s late goal vaults Durango boys to tie with Mustangs

Cristoval Magana knocked in a free kick from 30 yards out with four minutes to play Friday to allow Durango’s boys soccer team to earn a 1-1 tie with visiting Shadow Ridge.

Blake Damato converted a penalty kick in the first half for the Mustangs.

GIRLS

Chaparral 5, Cheyenne 4 — At Chaparral, Lisa Reksen had two goals and an assist to help the Cowboys hold off the Desert Shields.

Dawnesha Brinkley and Sarahi Berrelleza each had a goal and an assist, and Rosa Martinez also scored for Chaparral, which led 3-0 at the half.

Adriana Basin had three goals, and Emily Gutierrez also scored for Cheyenne.

Coronado 9, Basic 1 — At Basic, Britni Ballweg and Kathleen Cuevas each scored twice, and Kasey Ficklin had a goal and two assists as the Cougars blitzed the Wolves.

Gabriela Morris and Madison Thompson had a goal and an assist apiece, and Taylor Neubecker and Kara Kopolow each had a goal for Coronado.
