ROUNDUP: Phifer lifts Cougars past Roadrunners in first-place showdown

Chance Phifer scored midway through the second half Thursday to help Coronado’s boys soccer team pull away from visiting Tech, 2-0.

Jordan Yergensen added a goal 10 minutes later for the Cougars (11-3, 7-1 Southeast League), who took sole possession of first place in the Southeast.

Alex McCall made five saves to earn the shutout.

Silverado 3, Liberty 2 — At Liberty, Christian Narvaez tallied two goals, and Dakota Hallaway scored a goal to allow the Skyhawks to edge the Patriots.

Danny Musovski scored both goals for Liberty.

Foothill 6, Basic 1 — At Basic, Max Weiland posted three goals as the Falcons routed the Wolves.
Anthony Vitta, Jackson Dietrich and Aaryn Coroneos also scored for Foothill.

Weston Crum scored for Basic.

Green Valley 4, Del Sol 1 — At Green Valley, Daniel Valdez had a goal and two assists to lead the Gators past the Dragons. 

Akira Bannai scored and assisted for Green Valley, which also got goals from Luis Nunez and Carter Crompton.

Gerardo Aguilar scored for Del Sol.

Desert Pines 1, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, Antonio Arambula’s penalty-kick goal with five minutes left in the match allowed the Jaguars to tie the Rams.

Aaron Ortiz scored Rancho’s goal early in the second half.

Las Vegas 4, Canyon Springs 2 — At Las Vegas High, Danny Guzman, Estevan Benavides, Rafa Barajas and Irvin Hernandez scored a goal apiece as the Wildcats downed the Pioneers.

Jonathan Martinez converted two penalty kicks for Canyon Springs.

Valley 2, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Valley, Eddie Flores scored two second-half goals to send the Vikings past the Miners.

Julio Borjas assisted on both goals.

Valley’s Jesus Barrientos made six saves to earn the shutout.

Eldorado 8, Chaparral 0 — At Eldorado, Francisco Santiago racked up three goals, and Edgar Duran added two goals and two assists as the Sundevils blitzed the Cowboys.

Ruben Duran scored twice, and Luis Cruz netted a goal for Eldorado, which tallied seven goals in the second half.

Daniel Perez and Sammy Tapie combined on the shutout.

Faith Lutheran 6, Virgin Valley 0 — At Faith Lutheran, D’khari Hicks recorded two goals and an assist as the Crusaders marched past the Bulldogs.

Michael Manfredi added a goal and an assist for Faith Lutheran, which also got a goal each from Seon Jae and Fernando Tellez.

John Morretti posted a four-save shutout for the Crusaders.

Pahrump Valley 6, Moapa Valley 3 — At Overton, Nicholas Nelson scored two goals to lead the Trojans past the Pirates.

Spencer Mestas, Bryce Moser, Jose Nunez and Sergio Rodriguez also scored for Pahrump.
Tim Hoffmann notched two goals and an assist for Moapa Vallley, which got a goal from Cody Gollahon.

GIRLS

Virgin Valley 5, Adelson School 2 — At Adelson School, Larena Rushton notched two goals and, teammates Emily Lara, Cassidy Crandall and Anna Lee Aragez each scored a goal to help the Bulldogs down the Lions.

Makenna Jansen and Kelsi Slee each scored a goal for Adelson School.

Boulder City 7, Moapa Valley 0 — At Boulder City, Tasja Toumasis scored two goals as the Eagles blasted the Pirates.

Veronica France, Gabriella Corriales, Ashlyn Jorgensen, Janika Ross and Jeanette McQuillan each added a goal for Boulder City.

Mikaela Stevens posted a three-save shutout for the Eagles.
