ROUNDUP: Tech boys clinch Southeast title

Jose Guiza and Jesus Herrera scored first-half goals Monday as Tech’s boys soccer team clinched first place in the Class 4A Southeast League with a 2-1 win over visiting Coronado.

The Roadrunners are 10-0-3 in league play.

Coronado got a goal in the second half from Jake LeClaire.

Del Sol 3, Green Valley 1 — At Del Sol, the Dragons jumped out to a 2-1 halftime lead and held the Gators scoreless in the second half.

Miguel Castro, Jose Osorio and Jesse Romero all scored for Del Sol.

Green Valley’s goal came from Tim Shue.

Silverado 8, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Devin Diego and Gary Diego each scored twice to lead the Skyhawks past the Patriots.
Chase Leaders and Jamie Ibirra also scored for Silverado, which led 6-0 at halftime.

Julio Hermoza and Osmar Bolanos added goals for the Skyhawks.

Foothill 2, Basic 1 — At Foothill, Efrain Meza scored two goals, the second breaking a tie with 15 minutes remaining, as the Falcons nipped the Wolves.

Basic’s Christian Cisneros tied the match with a goal in the second half before Meza scored the game-winning goal.

Arbor View 2, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Arbor View’s Johnny Mayorga scored two goals in the second half, the latter with 10 minutes remaining, as the Aggies tied the Desert Shields.

Cheyenne led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Heber Chavez off an assist from Jose Orellano. Arbor View tied it at the beginning of the second half when Mayorga scored his first goal.

The Desert Shields regained the lead 10 minutes later when Victor Ramos scored off a pass from Eric Guzman.

Palo Verde 2, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Palo Verde, goalkeeper Colton McCann posted a shutout and the Panthers scored a goal in each half to beat the Mustangs.

Josh Leiserowitz and Francisco Rivero scored for Palo Verde.

Centennial 2, Mojave 0 — At Centennial, Kevin Rogge scored on a free kick 10 minutes into the second half to break a scoreless tie and help the Bulldogs down the Rattlers.

Matt Kurtz also scored for Centennial.

Julien Mihy recorded the shutout for the Bulldogs.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Legacy 2 — At Cimarron, the Spartans took a 2-1 halftime lead and held on to defeat the Longhorns.

Chance Rosa led Cimarron with one goal and one assist. Brian Gutierrez and Scottie Beckwith also scored for the Spartans.

Roberto Rivera and Oscar Ramirez scored for Legacy.

Virgin Valley 2, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Carlos Rosales and Carlos Cano scored goals to lead the Bulldogs past the Pirates.

Virgin Valley, which was 1-11-5 last year, finished 9-5-3 for its first winning record since 2003.

Tim Cook made one save and posted the shutout.

Virgin Valley 0, Moapa Valley 0 — At Moapa Valley, goalies Jacque Olive and Cassidy Crandell combined to earn the shutout for Virgin Valley.
