ROUNDUP: Valdez, Basic edge Liberty in boys soccer

Roberto Valdez scored in the 65th minute to break a scoreless tie and give Basic a 1-0 home victory over Liberty in boys soccer on Thursday.

Brandon Gonzalez earned the shutout for Basic.

Green Valley 1, Coronado 0 — At Coronado, Rodrigo Medina scored in the second half to lift the Gators over the Cougars.

Goalkeepers Ace Evans and Andrew Hendrickson combined for the shutout.

Silverado 1, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, neither team scored in the second half as the Skyhawks and Dragons tied.

Chase Leaders scored for Silverado, and Jose Osorio tied the game for Del Sol.

Tech 3, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Jose Guiza had two goals as the Roadrunners defeated the Falcons. Kevin Himenez added a goal and an assist for Tech.

Drew Suits scored in the first half for Foothill.

Arbor View 2, Shadow Ridge 1 — At Arbor View, Nico Johnson scored with about six minutes to play to break a 1-1 tie and give the Aggies the win.

Arbor View’s Michael Cable scored on a header early in the first half, and the Aggies took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Shadow Ridge tied the game on a goal by Taylor Lancaster.

Centennial 5, Legacy 2 — At Legacy, Joe Mikulich and Kevin Rogge each scored to lead the Bulldogs over the Longhorns.

Centennial’s Matt Kurtz scored on a penalty kick. Rogge also recorded an assist.

Julio Uribe and Christian Rodriguez scored for Legacy. They were both assisted by Andrew Salazar.

Palo Verde 4, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Josh Leiserowitz scored twice to lead the Panthers over the Desert Shields.

Matt Polster and Aaron Garfinkel each added a goal for Palo Verde.

Geovany Martinez and Raul Gutierrez scored for Cheyenne.

Cimarron-Memorial 7, Mojave 1 — At Cimarron, Scotty Beckwith scored twice to help the Spartans defeat the Rattlers.

Bernardo Badillo had a goal and two assists, and Bobby Thompson had a goal and an assist for Cimarron, which led 5-1 at the half.

Ben Schultz, Diego Zacarias and Edgar Neva also scored for the Spartans.

Juan Gutierrez scored Mojave’s goal.

Faith Lutheran 6, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Ryan Sniezyk scored three goals as the Crusaders improved to 4-0 overall.

Sniezyk has scored 13 goals in the team’s four games.

Chris Longi, Cameron Stimson and Emeron Ahmed each had a goal for Faith Lutheran, which has outscored the opposition 38-1 this year.

Marc Davies made two saves to get the shutout.

Boulder City 5, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Trevor Montgomery scored twice, and Boulder City built a 4-0 halftime lead on its way to the win.

Bradley Nilsen, Dan Raddant and Jack Broadbent also scored for the Eagles.

Mitchell Lyon and Brandon Harties each played a half in goal for Boulder City, but neither made a save.

The undefeated Coronado boys soccer team made sure it was ready for Saturday’s Class 5A Southern League final after losing to Palo Verde last season.
