ROUNDUP: Valley shuts out Canyon Springs in boys soccer

Mena Mekhail scored two goals Thursday to lead the Valley boys soccer team to a 5-0 road win over Canyon Springs.

Brothers Rosendo and Julio Borjas each scored for Valley, which had all five of its goals in the first half.

Ivan Chamorro added a goal and an assist for Valley. Rosendo Borjas and Esteban Ramirez each added an assist.

Joey Lopez had an assist and also teamed with Pedro Arias in goal to get the shutout.

Las Vegas 4, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, four players scored as the Wildcats defeated the Jaguars.

Joaquin Rivas, Jaime Toscano, Justin Johnson and Christian Basurto scored for Las Vegas. Ernesto Corona scored for Desert Pines.

Rancho 3, Chaparral 1 — At Rancho, the Rams scored two goals in the final five minutes to break a 1-1 tie.

Francisco Sanchez scored for Chaparral.

Western 1, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, neither team could score in the second half and the game ended in a tie.

Felipe Medina scored for Western. Damien Nelson had Pahrump’s goal.

Clark 2, Durango 0 — At Durango, Angelo Soro and Salvador Bernal each scored a goal to lift the Chargers over the Trailblazers.

Bonanza 8, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, John Milne scored two goals to lead the Bengals past the Diamondbacks.

Bonanza’s Doug Williamson, Andrew Terreault, Jesse Hunt, Chatcha Win, Chad Smith and Alex Torlano each added a goal. Eddy Valdez was credited with the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 8, Sierra Vista 0 — At Gorman, John Vaccaro had three goals as the Gaels routed the Mountain Lions.

Austin Cain and Cody Barnett each had two goals, and Sean Zaher scored once for Gorman.

Shane Thompson had three assists, and Jake O’Rourke got the shutout.

The Meadows 5, Lake Mead 0 — At The Meadows, Toby Warburton and Matthew Shackley each scored twice as the Mustangs beat the Eagles.

Alex Karabachev added a goal for The Meadows and assisted on two goals, and Corin Galati had two assists.

The Meadows’ Tim Park and Thomas Manzini combined on the shutout.

Faith Lutheran 16, Moapa Valley 0 — At Moapa Valley, Ryan Sniezyk had four goals and two assists, and Tyler Koerwitz had three goals and two assists to help the Crusaders dominate the Pirates.

Wade Norman added three goals and an assist, and Marc Davies, Chris Ortwein, Ryan Kay, Murad Ahmed, David Edson and Trevor Tuggle each had a goal for Faith Lutheran.

Ortwein had three assists, and Davies and Ahmed teamed in goal to get the shutout.

Virgin Valley 8, Adelson School 0 — At Virgin Valley, Carlos Cano and James Pollock each scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs over the Lions.

Virgin Valley’s Joel Medina, Danny Medina, Will Lara and John To each added a goal.

Carlos Rosales and Tim Cook combined on the shutout.
