ROUNDUP: Yergensen blitzes Aggies, helps Coronado capture Mesquite Cup title

Jordan Yergensen took care of all the scoring Saturday as Coronado’s boys soccer team captured the Mesquite Cup championship with a 3-0 win over Arbor View in the tournament final.

Yergensen netted a goal in the first half and two more in the second for the Cougars, who got two assists from Parker Rich.

Alex McCall recorded the shutout for Coronado, which allowed just two shots on goal.

“It was a good all-around effort for us,” Coronado coach Dustin Barton said.

Virgin Valley 2, Pahrump Valley 2 — John To had a goal in regulation and the deciding goal in the penalty-kick shootout as the Bulldogs won the fifth-place match.

The teams tied in regulation and went to a second round of penalty kicks before To provided the difference.

Danny Medina added a goal and an assist for Virgin Valley.

In the other matches Saturday, Shadow Ridge captured the third-place match with a 3-1 victory over Faith Lutheran, and Moapa Valley nipped The Meadows 2-1 in the seventh-place match.

GIRLS

Reed 2, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Reno, Dani Tharaldson scored a pair of second-half goals, including the equalizer with four minutes left in regulation as the Crusaders earned a draw with the Raiders in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Reed was a 3-2 winner in the penalty-kick shootout to advance in the tournament.

Truckee 1, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Reno, the Wolverines scored a second-half goal to nip the Crusaders.
