2014 Canyon Springs Girls Soccer Capsule

CANYON SPRINGS

Head coach: Jonathan Hillmer, second season

2013 record: 6-12 (3-7 Northeast, fifth)

Returning letter winners (starters): Twelve (10)

Top athletes: GK Wendy Vargas (Sr.), MF Leti Godoy (Jr.), D Yareli Trujillo (Jr.), MF Paloma McNair (Sr.)

Outlook: The Pioneers narrowly missed the postseason last year, tying Valley for fourth place in the Northeast League with nine points, but losing the tiebreaker.

Ten starters return for Canyon Springs, which should get a spark on offense from Godoy (12 goals) and McNair (five goals). Trujillo (two goals), and Vargas (five shutouts) are back on defense.

“A very young team last year, we are returning many starters and hope to make a solid run to and through the playoffs this year and hope to vie for a region championship,” Hillmer said.
