Arbor View girls draw top seed in Sunset playoffs

Arbor View won a random draw Friday to be slotted in as the Northwest League's top seed for the Sunset Region girls soccer playoffs, which begin Tuesday.

The Aggies, Palo Verde and Shadow Ridge finished league play tied at 8-2. Their head-to-head record, goal differential in head-to-head matches and wins by beaten opponents all were the same, forcing a random draw by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association to determine the seeding order.

Arbor View was drawn as the top seed. By NIAA rules, Palo Verde and Shadow Ridge were then put into a two-team tiebreaker to determine the second seed. Palo Verde won the second meeting between the teams and earned the No. 2 seed, leaving Shadow Ridge with the No. 3 seed.
