GIRLS SOCCER: Virgin Valley edges Cheyenne

Ally Wright and Abbie Barnum each scored, and Virgin Valley’s girls soccer team held on for a 2-1 victory over host Cheyenne on Thursday.

Karla Correa and Dalylah Chavez provided assists for the Bulldogs, who led 1-0 at halftime.

Mario Borrero had a second-half goal for the Desert Shields.

Eldorado 1, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Eldorado, Karla Moncayo scored with 14 minutes left in the game for the Sundevils to force a draw against the Miners.

Nicole Pena assisted on Moncayo’s goal.

Briana Torres-Chavez scored unassisted for Sunrise Mountain.

Shadow Ridge 2, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Samantha Villa and Kaitlyn Banks each scored for the Mustangs in their victory over the Longhorns.

Camryn Grant and Cheyenne Banks had assists, and Elin Larsson earned the shutout for Shadow Ridge.

Palo Verde 3, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Cimarron, Jadyn Nogues had two goals and an assist as the Panthers beat the Spartans.

Macee Barlow had a goal and an assist for Palo Verde, and teammate McKenna Vaughn had an assist.

For Cimarron, Annalise Esparza scored, assisted by Haylei Hughes.

Liberty 3, Valley 1 — At Liberty, Jada Kirkwood’s two goals carried the Patriots past the Vikings.

Alize Rogers scored the other Patriots goal, and Angelina Maisano had an assist.

Robin Yuan scored in the first half for Valley.
