Gorman girls soccer earns national ranking

Bishop Gorman’s girls soccer team is ranked No. 14 in the nation in the USA Today/United Soccer Coaches Super 25 preseason rankings, which were released on Tuesday.

The Gaels are the only Nevada school represented.

Gorman went 23-2-2 last season and defeated McQueen 3-0 for the Class 4A state title.

It was the school’s first girls soccer championship since the 2011-2012 season.

The Gaels are expected to return several key players, including top scorer Gianna Gourley (32 goals). Taylor Cox (17 goals) and Jaden Terrana (19 goals), who accounted for the team’s three goals in the title match, also should be back.
