ROUNDUP: Eldorado loss puts Valley on top of Northeast League … again

Eduardo Gutierrez scored on a penalty kick with two minutes left in the match Thursday as visiting Chaparral earned a 2-2 tie with Eldorado, knocking the Sundevils out of first place in the Northeast League.
Salvador Cuellar also scored for Chaparral.
Ruben Duran had both goals for Eldorado, which fell to second in the Northeast behind Valley, a 5-1 winner over Sunrise Mountain.
Valley 5, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Valley, Joey Lopez had three goals as seniors tallied all five of the Vikings’ markers in their win over Sunrise Mountain.
Carl Ajuziem and Alan Arce-Guevara also scored for Valley.
Rudy Gonzalez scored for the Miners.
 
Las Vegas 13, Canyon Springs 0 — At Las Vegas High, Joaquin Rivas scored three goals as the Wildcats blitzed Canyon Springs.
Aaron Lopez, Erick Fedde and Eric Marquez added two goals each, and Michael Boldry, Ruben Amezcua, Justin Johnson and Josh Cook added a goal apiece for Las Vegas.
Lopez and Roger Zaragoza combined on the shutout.
Desert Pines 3, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, Jesus Garcia scored two goals, and Victor Favela had a goal and an assist as the Jaguars broke a 1-1 tie with two second-half goals to beat the Rams.

Green Valley 2, Del Sol 1 — At Green Valley, Matt Babas scored the tie-breaking goal midway through the second half to lift the Gators past Del Sol.

Boulder City 3, Virgin Valley 0 — At Virgin Valley, Melissa Stewart scored two goals and Ashlyn Jorgensen added one to lead the Eagles past the Bulldogs.

Powerhouse quartet playing for 5A girls soccer state title

The state’s top four girls soccer teams will play for the Class 5A state title, with Bishop Gorman playing Coronado and Liberty facing Faith Lutheran in state semifinals.
