ROUNDUP: Guzman converts free kick to push Tech past Gators, into playoffs

Alex Guzman connected on a 24-yard free kick midway through the second half Tuesday to help Tech’s girls soccer team stun visiting Green Valley, 1-0.
The Roadrunners clinched a spot in the Sunrise Region playoffs with the win. Southeast League leading Green Valley, meanwhile, saw its advantage over second-place Coronado shrink to two points with one match remaining.
Susan Melian was in goal to claim the shutout for Tech.
Coronado 0, Silverado 0 — At Coronado, the Cougars and Skyhawks played to a scoreless draw.
Silverado’s Taylor Lommason and Coronado’s Cristina Burgess each posted a shutout.
Liberty 3, Foothill 1— At Foothill, Alexia Gonzalez had a goal and an assist, and Paige Terlizzi dished out two assists to lift the Patriots past the Falcons.
Kim Desario and Sunshine Soriano also scored for Liberty, which secured a playoff spot.
Kencie Ely tallied Foothill’s goal.
Basic 5, Del Sol 0 — At Basic, Kierra Phelps and Ashley Munson each had two goals as the Wolves did all their scoring in the first half and cruised past the Dragons.
Sophia Estrema also scored for Basic, which got two assists from Nikki Mullins.
Lizvette Herrera recorded the shutout for the Wolves.
Sunrise Mountain 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Crystal Franco, Gabriela Leon and Jessica Skinner each scored a goal as the Miners shocked the Jaguars.
Aryn Bordman notched the shutout for Sunrise Mountain.
Eldorado 1, Valley 1 — At Valley, Aliya Salas scored the equalizer on a free kick early in the second half to allow the Vikings to tie the Sundevils.
Autumn Moore tallied a first-half goal for Eldorado.
Canyon Springs 4, Chaparral 1 — At Canyon Springs, Jazmine Eshleman notched two goals to help the Pioneers defeat the Cowboys.
Alecs Cook and Roxann Guerrero each added a goal and an assist for Canyon Springs.
Gilberta Garcia scored for Chaparral.
